About
So, I’m an American, who has been living in the UK for over 20 years.
I’m also a Medievalist and a photographer. If I add my tendency towards animal rescue, that I’m married with two adult children, well that pretty much tells you everything about me.
Medieval buildings led me to becoming a photographer, as I wanted to be able to do them justice. I still struggle with that, as these are just the most amazing places. I believe you should follow what you love and that is the very reason this website exists.
So I photograph history, I’ve visited the Medieval sites of Britain for nearly 30 years and it was those medieval travels that first inspired me to take better photos, and I sort of fell into doing a BA in photography.
In order to continue to visit medieval historic buildings, I managed to finally expand my horizons to the continent. I have spent a lot of time planning my trips and now the internet makes it so much easier than trying to hunt down out of print books. The one piece of advice I can give my reader who wants to travel is, plan ahead. Travel is expensive and there’s nothing worse than getting somewhere to find it closed.
Medieval daily life is what I find fascinating. There is so much to learn from the studying of the buildings they lived, worked and worshipped in. I have therefore written a brief history of each location. I have learned along with my reader and enjoyed creating this never ending project.
Use this site however it works for you. If you want to see images, learn history or plan your own itinerary, these pages are here to help.
